automatic display of favorities in xp

Nov 25, 2004 10:29PM PST

How do I set favorities so that I do not have to hit the favorities icon every time. I was able to do this in ME by saving the setting, but I can't find out how to do it in xp. Thanks

I'm not really sure what it is that you are trying to do but if you go to My Comuter/C drive/documents and settings/owner, that's where they are kept. Perhaps you can find a setting in there for what you are trying to do.

roddy32, I actually meant to say the favorities in internet explorer in XP. Every time I open IE I have to hit the Favorties icon to see my favorties. Prior to XP, I would open IE and it always, automatically, open the favorties. Thanks

I don't know CF, Sorry. Besides where I told you the folder was, you can right click on the favorites Icon and choose customize but I don't know if there is an option to do that or not. If I understand you correctly, you want them to show on the left side of the page all the time? That would take up a lot of space of the page you are viewing I would think.

roddy32, thanks anyway for trying. You understand my question exactly. I want Favorties to open automatically on the left side every time I go into IE.

This may be a daft question, but, are you closing your favourites before closing IE? It should remember the last settings previously used.If you open your favourites then close IE without closing your favourites they should be open the next time you open IE.

That is a good suggestion. Training it. I'm surprised I didn't think of that LOL. I just explained how to train an e-mail in Outlook Express to open up full screen yesterday to a friend when the subject came up. The same thing should apply here. I hope the original poster comes back and sees this LOL.

Firefox will let you put selected favorites (bookmarks) on tabs at the top of the screen so you can readily switch from one to the other with a single click.

The way I do it using IE 6 with XP is to "Toggle" the "Favorites" button on the upper toolbar. Windows remembers the setting when exiting the program and upon the next use returns to the last view. (Either showing the favorites on the left panel or not showing them depending on the view when last shutdown)

Hope this helps.
