Automatic dialup does not funcion in Outlook Express

Sep 10, 2005 11:02AM PDT

When I open Outlook Express it does not automatically start the dialup connection. This previously worked, but it stopped recently, perhaps because of some updates I downloaded. The automatic dialup still works when I open Internet Explorer 6.

All I can see is this;

In Outlook Express, goto Tools > Options. Click the ''Connection'' tab, and you will see a section called ''Internet Connection Settings''.

Click the Change button and this will take you to Internet Explorer's Connections on Internet Properties. Make sure the ''Always dial my default connection'' is selected. Click Apply, then OK, then back in OE's Options, click Apply, then OK again.

See if that helps.

Workaround.
Sep 11, 2005 1:04AM PDT

The workaround is obvious. Run IE to connect, then run OE. Or make a shortcut to your dialup connection (on the desktop for example) and run that before running IE. Don't forget to logoff in time!

As far as I know, OE and IE share the same settings. So it's quite strange that one works, and the other doesn't.
