autocomplete help, desperate....

May 25, 2005 8:46AM PDT

I've been using someone elses computer for the last few hours...and...for one reason or another I need to delete certain entries from the history and autocomplete function.

Restarting the computer is not an option since it is highly secure and I don't have the password.

The autocomplete function's cache I believe is storing items already deleted from the history.

Since, from what I know, the computers actual index.dat logs cant be changed while IE is running (whenever the comp is on), will the sites be deleted by restarting the computer?

Or do I have to delete the entire history (which would look VERY suspicious and is a last emergency resort only.)

Also, I have disabled the autocomplete function already, so there is no need to tell me to do that. I believe the owner is completely able to restore it.

press ctrl-h to open the history. that way you can manually delete the history records you want instead of deleting the whole thing. as far as autocomplete goes, just go tools-internet options-content-autocomplete and clear auto complete.good luck
