Question

Auto start of system when power applied

Dec 31, 2013 1:49AM PST

HP Pavilion Xl 1953
Win XP Home
I was given this older computer. It is plugged into a power strip. After I do a proper shutdown. I turn the master switch off at the power strip. When I turn the power strip back on the computer lights up and automatically starts to boot up.
I am sure I am missing something in the power mgmt section but not been able to stop this issue. Your instruction will be appreciated.

DId not find a manual.

Because no manual I can't be exact but many old PCs had a power up setting in the BIOS. Again, I can't be specific. If you find a manual, please supply a link.

Thanks Bob. Never thought to look in the BIOS but will check that out.
I could't find a manual either. Actually could'd find anything about that model on the HP website.

Thanks Bob.
It was in the BIOS power settings. Two options
1. Reboot after power failure
2. Do not reboot after power failure
It was set to 1 and I changed it to 2.
took care of the problem. Thanks again for the heads up on the BIOS.
