Auto Play

June 1/05

I am running Win XP in a top of the line machine. The auto play window comes up constantly whenever I inset a Card in my card reader, have changed to 3 other card readers, doesn't matter, going to properties for the drive and selecting an action, or prompt, or even default does not have any effect on this problem. When you have the card window open, or even a CD open and trying to copy paste or whatever, this auto play window pops up and the flashlight search thing is moving but nothing in the box. What it does is stop any work you are doing, Xing out of it or closing it doesn't work as it just continually pops up. Impossible to use any of my SD-CF or CD disks, am at my wits end with this, have even uninstalled any recent programs, that didn't help either. I am constantly using disk clean up, defrag, and error checking. Anyone have a solution for this, thanks.

Have you tried changing it to take no action?

Right click on the what you want to change (CD drive, card reader), select properties, autoplay, select an action to perform and pick take no action. Be sure to also click on apply.
