Auto insurance ?

Feb 11, 2019 7:05AM PST

Ever notice how you can save if you switch to their insurance plan, you save $x-dollars. Usually, its the same amt. or similar amongest all the ads you see between different insurers. So, what gives that all of a sudden you can have $X-dollars saved. Wouldn't they want to keep insured and offer lower rates instead. They must think we're dummies. I still compare when I shop at least I try to. Thanks.

Start with company A. Get their insurance; switch to company B and pocket the savings. Switch to company C, ditto.

Eventually you'll get around to your original provider, at which time they will owe you money!

I also like the commercials about switching car loans

or early trade-ins where you might even lower your payments. They don't advertise that this means your payments won't end until a much later date or that paying the loan early will result in a penalty. I have found that a better practice is to find a good company, stick with them year after year, and don't get in a wreck. Rates also go up in other ways than the size of the check you write. As a car ages, coverage for damage decreases. You won't know how much this decrease will be unless you have a wreck involving considerable damage. If you must have a wreck, don't have on that deploys air bags. It's game over when this happens.

I checked rates some time ago, maybe 5-6yrs. ago and found I did save roughly 50%. However, rates still go up I have yet to ever them go down.
