Auto Hompage????

Dec 12, 2003 10:55PM PST

OK, I have tried everything I can possibly think of to fix this problem and now I am just going crazy. I have windows XP and when using internet explorer.. my homepage keeps getting reset back to http://t.rack.cc/hp.php ... be careful. It is some kind of credit card something or other. However, it WONT leave me alone. I have cleared cookies, deleted temp. files. Reset homepage address a hundred times. even put the site under restricted zones. STILL COMES BACK EVERY TIME!! I have run AdAware, McAfee, and Stinger. The worst part is that it keeps putting icons on my desktop.. one is called TONEX.. gets worse. Now my spell checker on email wont work because it says something about trying to open a PictureIt! program... to check spelling???? UGH, SOMEBODY HELP ME! I have called dell and they weren't much help. so I am begging for help here! thanks!

Cowboy gives good information. Make sure to run all the programs listed at the link he supplied, especially CWShreddar.

There are plenty of suggestions if you do a search of "Google". Here are a few links that should help you find the answer. By checking the "HijackThis" report, it appears like there is a registry entry that must be removed.:

Subject: Search engine home page and Welchia

Google Search Results for "t.rack.cc spy"

Hope this helps.

I had the same thing happen to me although not from the same scum site you've been hit with. I'm running windows ME and did a system restore which took care of the problem. Hope your solution is that easy.
