I looked at that and am really looking for something built-in to the computer system - not something I need to pay for or download. I thought I'd heard there was a way built into the computer, but I don't know how to do it. I'm also not looking to track passwords, just fill in forms automatically.

A number of web browsers have "Form Fill"

Safari and Firefox for instance.

They will usually only do name, address, phone number type stuff though

Is that the sort of thing you mean?

I'm sorry to be so late in answering. I feel stupid because I'm new at this and I don't know what browser I use. If you could tell me how to find out, I will do that. Is this for my email or going onto the internet? Again, sorry for being such a newbie!

Re: browser

A Windows PC comes with Internet Explorer. A Mac comes with Safari.
You could have installed Firefox or Chrome and use that, but then probably you should know that.

In Internet Explorer, there's a Help>About Internet Explorer in the menu bar. That even shows what version you have (mine is 9.0). Older versions, by default, showed "Internet Explorer" in the title bar of the window when you ran it.

Does this help to answer P's question?

how to start AutoComplete for forms in IE 8
Oct 31, 2011 2:58AM PDT

To change AutoComplete settings

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Content tab.
Under AutoComplete, click Settings.
Select the check boxes for the AutoComplete options you want to use.
Click OK twice.

Now go find a form to fill in.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
I used it and it worked.......I'm sure you're not surprised but I am. Laugh
Everyone kept telling me that you had to download something and/or pay for something which would
then add another browser (which I didn't want to do). When I investigated some of these suggestions
and read the comments many people said that you can never completely get rid of what you
downloaded (and I certainly didn't want that!).
I just knew if I perservered I'd find someone who knew what they were talking about......and that someone is YOU!!!!!!!!!
Again, THANK YOU so very much.

Answer
"Just fill in forms automatically"
Oct 26, 2011 6:32AM PDT

That needs to be a very smart program. Before I filled in my digital IRS forms (not the USA ones, but equivalent) I had spent a considerable amount of time to just gather all they wanted to know, mostly from paper forms and electronic banking accounts. I can't imagine anything built into Windows to do that for me.

Could be give a few examples of forms so simple that a computer program would be able to fill all details?
