Is this a "MP4 Player"?
May 20, 2007 9:28PM PDT

These are bought in bulk, made in China with no apparent maker. I note them in the sticky. They are sold widely via ebay, car trunks and other flea markets.

Tell how you got yours?

Bob

Thank you very much Bob!!! I have not used it yet. Do you have any suggestions for its initial use(downloading) Is there anything special I need to do to set it up? Thanks again, i truly appreciate your help- Marc

Usually they show up as a drive.
May 20, 2007 11:35PM PDT

You drag and drop MP3s on them. If it works, don't format it. If it only holds a few songs then it's one of the noted units. Don't take the advice to update the firmware...

How to download music
Jun 11, 2007 12:58PM PDT

To download music to your device plug in the device to the PC using the USB cable which was provided in the packaging of the Prizm/2ylite. Using any P2P Sharing software such as Napster, Limewire, etc...Just drag and drop music from your P2P software Library to the drive in my computer which is labeled "Removable Disk".

If you do not see "Removable Disk" drive disconnect the device from the PC and reconnect again.
Go to my computer and refresh the screen
"Removable Disk" should appear

Mp3/Mp4 How to get any info?
Jan 23, 2011 6:13AM PST

I got mine through a Quality Company Catalog.$80. each for 3 as gifts. I am beginning to regret my purchase as everyone seems to have Ipods/Iphones. I have yet to load mine. The sound is great. It boasts being able to hold 1000 songs, 2000 photos&16 hours of video on box. paper work says it's either or not all of the above options. Can't find the "official" websites for promised downloads & manual and information. Even the person I gave one to as a gift is giving hers back. What a bummer.I give it one good try before I send the radio with headphones back. Any suggestions? the closest thing to a model # is SC#5EEPW It seems like I could have a better product for the money.

Doubtful there is much info.

Over the past 2 years I've run into this name more and more. They appear to make cheap things with zero after market support. Sorry to read it didn't work out for you.

Charging the battery for the augen mp4 player
Jun 2, 2007 2:44AM PDT

When plugged into the computer, via usb, how long does/should it take for a complete charge. Any idea as to how long each charge is good for?
Thanks for your reply to Eagleland, it has been very helpful.

Augen prizm charging time
Jun 2, 2007 4:57AM PDT

Hi. When I charged mine, it took one hour. The best way to tell if it fully charged -when you unplug from the usb, look at the battery indicator/ there are 3 bars showing the level of charge(just like a cell phone) you will notice when the batery is starting to get low when you see 2 bars. A good hour does the trick.
I haven't really ran mine for a long period at one time to see how long a full charge lasts. Let me know if you find out. Thanks! Hope this helps-Marc

Manufacturer's Website
May 25, 2007 1:26AM PDT

I too needed a manual...the one that came with the Augen was too small for me to read...so I finally found the website...it's augenus as in Augen (United States). I guess I'm a lucky one because I've had no problems with mine...I've been downloading music for a week now. I bought one for my husband and his also works fine...been using windows media player for the download...ripping it then syncing it...it's been a very painless process! Purchasing more for Christmas gifts!

Web site and downloading music
May 25, 2007 2:42AM PDT

You are right the manual is too small and hard to follow, can you post the web site, and how do you download music to it. When I plug in my Prizm to my computer it connects as a camera.

Downloading Music
May 26, 2007 9:55AM PDT

I found out that after you plug in your Augen..reboot your computer so that your computer recognizes it. Go to my computer and you will see the removable drive...I renamed it "augen" so that I would know what I was working with. I use MS Media Player...so when I started media player it gave me the option on the right hand side of the screen to be able to use it. You then are able to download music that you have ripped to your library and then use the sync tab to download your music to the player.

Hope this helps. I also contacted support at Augen and they replied that they will have a downloaded manual online very soon.

Downloading Music
Jun 27, 2007 6:34AM PDT

I brought one last week when in Miami for $80,thought it was a bargain at the time although from what I have read on this thread, that may not be the case.I agree the manual could have been written in larger text but will try the website that somebody suggests.
My only problem is that when I rip/sync an album from Windows media player,it copies the tracks I have highlighted but at the same time deletes the ones I have already put on.Now I must admit new technolgy is alien to me but is there something else I should be doing?

Augen
May 30, 2007 2:09AM PDT

I have the Augen MP3/4 player-got it through a points program, too. My only problem is that my media player at home which works on my other MP3's, will not recognize the Augen, so I have to bring it a computer at my work place that does support it. Annoying, tho. I have downloaded music from a cd, but while the instrument music sounds good, the voices are very hard to hear. Don't understand why that is. but otherwise, pictures have downloaded very easily, and I've tried the voice recorder, too. It's true that the instruction booklet is very small and not all that good. i have called Augen, tho, and have received emails from them-sporadic, tho. Just go to Augen USA and you should get them. Has anyone else had this problem with the sound?

Downloading Pic's onto Augen Prizm 1gb
Jun 29, 2007 11:11PM PDT

I have an Augen Prizm mp3/mp4 I'm guessing it's a couple of years old, purchased from XS Cargo. I am unable to figure out how to download pictures onto it. I figured how to download the music, and it works fine. I'm going thru each step one by one. Anyone have any suggestions on which program to use to download vid's and pic's?? Thanks Vickie

Jun 30, 2007 1:07AM PDT

I save my pictures in "My Documents",if you then highlight the file and copy to "E" drive which I have renamed Augen,it should download the file.I tried it earlier in the week and had no problem.Have not tried any video's yet.
My only problem is downloading CD's via Windows media player, whereby,it transfers the file but at the sametime deletes the ones already loaded.

Augen MP3 Player
May 8, 2009 7:24AM PDT

I just purchased one of these. In the little paperwork that came with it it refers to a website (www.aegenus.com) . I didn't find it very helpful. probably it's a translation form the Chinese, where it is manufactured and much is lost...

What I did learn was that it needs to be turned on ( the little switch on the side) and that it takes a good four hours for teh battery to charge the first time.

The radio works quite well, so I'll continue to work on the download of the MP3 files.

If you find another source for teh operaotr manual I'd apprciate a reference.

Thanks, Jim
