Audio WITHOUT soundcard in XP???

Dec 19, 2005 9:03AM PST

Hi.
The intergrated sound chip in my Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop is currently broken, (trust me, the onboard chip is broken) and I was wondering, is there any other way that I could get sound with my existing hardware?
I know for a fact that my speakers are not broken. Is there any way I could get audio in Windows XP without purchasing a new piece of hardware? I was hoping a USB or PCMCIA sound card would be a last resort.
If there is any kind of driver I could download to hear sound (rendered through the main CPU), do you know of any?
Thanks

You can get external devices. There is, for example, an audigy card built into an external box.
