Audio/video to firewire or usb cable?

Jan 3, 2006 10:18PM PST

I have a laptop with a dvd player, but I don't have a regular dvd player for my tv. I'm wondering if there's any way to play my dvd's on my laptop and view them on my tv? My laptop does not have an av port or an s-video port. It only has USB and Firewire.

DVD players at wallymart are less money that VGA to TV or other conversions. You are welcome to re-research this, but I hope to shorten the time you will invest here.

I agree with Bob about purchasing a DVD player as being the easiest and least expensive solution. Without getting into a discussion of alternatives you can pay as much for cables alone to connect your Laptop to your TV as it would cost to buy a DVD player.

VGA to video adapter.

Plug the VGA to video adapter into the VGA port on your laptop. Video cable from the adapter to your tv. Now you have to gat a long audio cable to get audio to your TV.
The adapters cost $60~90, plus the cost of the cables.
Makes the idea of getting a $70 DVD player sound like the easest way to go. John
