Audio surveillance

Hey

I am looking for audio surveillance software so to speak that records audio. Just like how Video surveillance works where you can go back and watch wat happened yesterday or so. But I want to record just audio from an input which should organize it so I can go back in time say 12pm on sunday and hear what was there. Anyone know of anything commercially or free?

I have tried audacity, that works except it goes by start and counts up minutes. Id prefer if it would have a timeline based on current time
