Question

Audio ports

Aug 6, 2019 9:17AM PDT

This is my first time using this website so sorry if this is in the wrong place or anything like that. My front audio ports arent working I went in my computer and fixed it. Now the front audio ports work but they completely overtake the back audio ports which was supposed to be my headset. I cant switch back and forth between headset and speaker like I wanted to and I believed this website might be the one to help me with my problem. It's extremely weird and the only way to have my headset play audio like its supposed to is by unplugging the front audio panel.

Answer
Actually very common.

Most systems work like that. The usual fix is some audio switch box. If you believe your case and motherboard can do this, then ask the case and motherboard maker.

Here you didn't reveal those details so I can't tell if your setup can do this.

had no idea it was very common

I am pretty sure I don't have an audio switch box this is a pretty new system.
I will list all the specs I have including case just to be safe and not have to reply more than I need to.
GPU- Radeon RX 560
CPU- intel core i5 3470s
8 gigs of ram
(just copy and paste this and you'll see the motherboard, it has a really long name) 03T6014
Rosewill FBM-X1 Micro ATX Tower
Another thing is I have my audio outputs labeled in my windows 10 by what they should be. I have 2 different things labeled Razer Headset and speaker and like I said before once I plug in the HD audio into my motherboard in the right port the front audio panel where I have my speaker plugged into just starts playing audio through what I have labeled razer headset when I know it's not supposed to be.

The case does have the usual HD audio connection.

So it has that sense line to pull off the autoswitch so https://www.google.com/search?q=03T6014&gl=US finds the motherboard. Please folk, don't make us work hard to scratch up part details.

OK, in spite of that I see the motherboard and case are not compatibly wired.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/ThinkCentre-front-panel-connector-power-audio-amp-USB-pinout/td-p/190651 seems to show how to rewire it and maybe, just maybe the autoswitching will work but here's the deal. You are using some motherboard pulled from gads know where and won't find support out there.

If you can't rewire and have it work then you need a switch solution.

Thanks for the help and sorry for the trouble. It was a prebuilt I got because I was on a budget and my parents didn't understand how building my own will work. This was the motherboard it came with. What I've been doing before I got the HD audio to fit into the connector was I just unplugged the razer headset output and plugged in the speakers but it got annoying doing that constantly and I was just trying to get it to work so I can just change it from inside of windows.

If it was a prebuilt

I would be guessing all the way here which is the only trouble as I may guess badly.

But from what I can dig up the prebuilt's case was wired correctly for that make/model. But Lenovo didn't use a standard like AC97 so you can not replace the case and expect it to work.

Fortunately there was a discussion about that (link in last reply) about how to rewire but sadly I find most folk can't do such work.

Headsets, depending on the port/plug they go into, often cut off any other sound feed from other port. You have headset into the back. Move it to the front plugs. Sometimes when headsets at the front plug, it won't cut out speakers in the rear, but it all depends on how the motherboard is manufactured and what the case ports allow. You may be able to change some jumpers at the SPDIF area on mobo to do what you want, but need to check manual for mobo.
