Resolved Question

Audio output from TX-L42WT50B Smart TV

Dec 5, 2012 11:50PM PST

I bought a Viera Smart TV TX-L42WT50B and want to put the audio output through my Sony TA-FA3ES Integrated Stereo Amplifier. I managed this perfectly well with my previous Viera TV which had audio outputs but the 50B does not have these outputs.

Can anyone help?

I see no link to the product manual so I'm left to guess you need one of those optical to stereo convertors. Some folk are upset the new set uses a mini-jack rather headphones so a small convertor is used for that.

Bob,

Thank you so much for your quick and helpful response - you just turned the light on! I didn't know there was such a thing as an optical to stereo converter but have now looked it up and it's blindingly obvious it's exactly what I need!

Thanks again - if only Panasonic themselves had been as helpful. Have a great Christmas.

Sorry if I didn't hunt for the product manual but it's all volunteer so I hope folk can be as kind as you and get out and push this car to the gas pump.

On amazon you see them from 17 to many more dollars.
And a big nod to the AmazonBasics for the optical and other cables.
