you should remember to include the make and model of your surround receiver, it will help get the correct answer.
Without knowing this, I would guess that your receiver needs to be told you are using an optical connection. This may have to be done from a set up menu, or you may have a button on the front plate A/D or digital input, which when selected switches between the analoge and digital inputs.
I've bought an audio optical cable for my cable box and dvd surround sound system so that I can enjoy my digital channels with surround sound. But once I hooked up everything, no sound came out of my speakers. Only sound were produced were from my tv speakers. I was wondering if there is a setup of some sort in which i need to do so I can watch tv with surround sound.
