Audio lag with older Vizio VO47L to Vizio SB3821-C6

I have an older Vizio VO47L tv, with my Directv connected via HDMI 1, my Xbox One on HDMI 2. my Toshiba laptop is HDMI 3. I just purchased the 38 inch Vizio soundbar with woofer, SB3821-C6. I have it connected to the Vizio tv via digital optical cable. Now I have lag between the tv speaker and sound bar, and laptop and tv, and the only way to stop it is to cut the speakers off on the VO47L tv. Is this just the way I have to do it with an older TV? TIA.

That's why most companies disable TV speakers

When you use a sound bar. Even if you had some lag control you may still hear it.

Fix? Turn off the TV speakers.

It may not be your TV

Sorry, this is almost a year after you posted your question.
But I recently bought the Vizio SB3821-C6 soundbar and connected it up to my TV (via optical cable) and it too has a small delay. It sounds like an echo. It is a fraction of a second, but is noticeable when the TV speakers are still on or when one person is using headphones while another is listening via the soundbar. To compare, I plugged the exact same output from the TV into another audios system, and there is no delay. So it is definitely the Vizio SB3821-C6 that has the delay. I'm sending it back.
