General discussion

audio from pc itunes and windows media to my home speakers?

Jun 26, 2009 5:44AM PDT

I have a huge collection of about 100gigs of music on my itunes and windows media player.. (another questions on how to merge them both later Happy I just realized I always listen to my music via just transferring songs to my mp3 player and never listen to cds at home anymore on my FAR better amp and sterio speakers.

My question. I want to listen to all of my music on my laptop (from my laptop) (like when a DJ uses his apple pc and software and blasts great sound, LOUD and over the speakers in the club) on my current sterio system (with the amp and current speakers, which are very expensive)? it seems as if I should know how to do this but I don?t have a clue? Is there a wired and wireless option and can I use my current hardware (speakers, amp, pioneer elite vsx?etc or do I need all new hardware..etc) thanks so much for your time and patients!

Warm regards

Russell

Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 External USB Sound Card SB1090

Hook it directly to your receiver with an optical cable and away you go.

not what i was intending

I want a hardware and software structural solution ,not a suggestion on an actual brand.

For example: if I asked you how to set up a home theater network with the cables, plugs, cords, ?etc (I wouldn?t want an answer saying, you should get advent speakers and your all good?)

Thanks again

Another Solution

You could also use a cable that has a stereo mini plug on one side and RCA jacks on the other. Plug that into your receiver from your laptop and you'll get sound. A stereo mini to stereo mini cable could also work if your receiver has the input for it (it would be on the front of the unit).

I suggested an external sound card because it might provide you with better sound quality than the one that came in the laptop. It was intended as an example of what's out there, and I'm sure you could find other products that do the same thing.

this would answer my question. ar there any DJ's out there? if so, how do you hook up your itunes or sorftware on your laptop to the dance clubs, sound system?

after i know this i can figure out the infrustructure of what needs to be done?

thanks

That's it

Either they use a built in card in the laptop, or what has been suggested (external, to increase sound quality and/or control). At this point all you are really doing is asking what specific products you should be connecting to. That's something which is clearly not going to be discussed in great detail on such a general site like CNET.

Google is your friend Wink.
