Question

Audio Format Change when sound is muted or paused

Sep 2, 2015 1:49PM PDT

Hi.

I have an UE40F6200AW. Recently I've purchased a Philips HTL3140B/12 Soundbar.

I have it connected to the TV by an HDMI-ARC cable and I have enabled the Anynet+ interface so I can control the soundbar with the TV remote.

Everything is working fine except one thing. If I am watching a movie (for instance with Plex app) in Dolby Digital or PCM, if I pause the video or mute the sound, when I want to resume the video or sound, I have no sound at all.

If I go to the sound setting I can see that Audio Format has changed to DTS, so I have no sound. If I change it again to PCM or Dolby and I pause the video, TV change again the audio format to DTS.

Anyone could help me with that?

Regards,
Alberto

Answer
Sorry no.

I will share ideas on this and where I would post next.

I find smart TVs to be full of bugs. Check the maker's web page on your model about firmware updates and compare what's in your set. I have found the TV to sometimes check in and miss the update.

Next, the video server for Plex may need some work. Back to that app on PC or such to see if there is a support forum for that.

I do not expect companies today to fix this or answer. Their goals are not the same as yours.

I wonder if you were trying to be funny.

I'm sorry to tell you that you were not. To say that it's better to not say anything.

So you don't want to work on this?

I offered a few ideas but your reply tells me you want it fixed.

OK, that is where you call the seller and maker and make your ultimatum. Tell them to fix it or back it goes.

I shared a few things for you to check out but the reply tells me you want it fixed, no ifs ands or buts. This means that ideas and what folk would try is unacceptable.

Back to the makers you go?
