audio disappears but comes back when on a skype call

by britpoprule / July 6, 2015 10:43 AM PDT

Hello guys,
I have a little problem.
The audio of my father's PC (with Windows 7) doesn't work. It doesn't work when he tries to see youtube or any website with videos.
When we talk on skype the audio starts working again, including on youtube etc.
I made my checks but I don't seem to understand the reason behind this problem.
Can you help?

Factory Reset or Formatting

In reply to: Sorry

Is there a factory reset without losing data? Or do you mean formatting?

We only lose what we don't backup.

Hard drives fail every day. Infections take files hostage. Given how dangerous PC use is, no one goes without a disaster plan.

Sorry but with so little to work with my answer is that a restore to factory puts it just like from the factory and only files we backup survive.

This is an ongoing issue with Windows 7 and prior. Windows 8 and later have a new system to refresh the OS and leave files alone. But I still don't trust a Windows PC to not have backups.
