Hello,
I don't fully understand your situation, but I will try to help with the info you have provided.
If you want to transfer your audio cassettes to cd from your bookshelf stereo system to your laptop you will need the following:
A stereo jack male to male cable (you can find at Radio Shack or other store) that will plug into your stereo systems "headphone jack" and then into the "mic in" jack on your laptop.
You will need a piece of software that will allow you to record the stereo source into any format you wish (I use "MP3 Recorder Pro". There are lots of good programs out there). It will be very important that you have a good equalizer as part of the recording software so you can remove as much of the hiss out of the recording as possible.
Once you have recorded your audio, you will want a program (I use Winamp) to convert them to the WAV audio format to then burn to cd using Nero or some other cd creation program.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Take care,

So I guess I can't come out of my bookshelf systems speaker outlets into my laptop(no rca outlets). Is that right?
If I had a cassette player with a pre-amp, can that do it? Do I need a special program for the laptop?
Appreciate the ideas.
