Just had to check my car for an upgrade to it's Telematics Control Unit as the cellular network used is ending on the 31st. Other countries had other dates.
2012 would have 2G and I see CNET wrote up the BMW at https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/bmw-sos-emergency-connected-drive-assist-2g-cancelled-telematics/
This will hit other makes and models too. So I wonder.
I have a 2012 Audi A6 with AMI. I've been using a 3rd generation iPod connecting through the AMI for a couple of years now, no problem. All of a sudden, the AMI stopped recognizing the device. The really strange part is the iPod works fine when connected to my laptop, and another iPod (as well as my iPad) work fine when connected to the AMI. So there's something specific that seems to involve both ends of the connection. I've tried rebooting and restoring the iPod, to no avail. Any ideas?
