Question

ATT/Yahoo email address has disappeared

Jul 23, 2019 3:34PM PDT

My email address has not been recognized by Yahoo for 2 weeks. 1st response from Yahoo was about a server issue. Today I was told that it had been taken down due to abuse, but they couldn't tell me what was meant by abuse. They called back later and said it was because account was delinquent --- but it isn't, and another email address on the same account is fine. Nevertheless, they connected me to ATT collections, who said "They said WHAT?" So they obviously knew nothing about the account being dissolved at their end. I have 15 years of records there. When I sign in through Yahoo, it says the email address is unknown. When I logg on through att.com, it says the email address is not found on the Accelerator. Does anyone out there have a clue what's going on?

Answer
Not the first to report this.

Won't be the last. We only lose what we don't backup and Yahoo is known to remove accounts. There are no Yahoo folk here and we get SCAMMERS that offer to fix your issue (operators are standing by to take your CC.)

What's going on is for them to answer. On your end, it's all about the backups.

PS. Here's another member that lost it all.

How do you back up an email thread?
Jul 24, 2019 9:13AM PDT

I know that you can transfer an attachment to a file, where it can be saved. But if there is a way to save an entire thread of a discussion without copying it into a word or text file, then I confess ignorance -- have no clue how to do it. Instead of calling me a dummy, can you offer some guidance here? I really would appreciate some help here.

Here's how I've done such.

I setup Thunderbird to sync the mail. I defer to Thunderbird tutorials and their own forums rather than duplicate their fine work.

My advice
Aug 2, 2019 1:50AM PDT

"Ohh! I used Thunderbird many years ago. My advice to you, go to another email service. For example, Outlook can be used much more reliably and without any problems. I switched to Outlook, because there are many problems with. If all of these are of interest to Outlook, then read the article at https://www.data-fellas.guru/how-to-import-contacts-to-outlook/ how to transfer contacts from Thunderbird to Outlook. Good luck and less mail problems!

...to import mail files going all the way back to Netscape 2 and have them work just fine. Hah, try that with Outlook.

That's a tar pit there.

I can't imagine any tech today giving out that solution. Unless they needed the work.
