The first instruction you listed is indeed the correct (and only) method of booting to the recovery partition for our model. For option number two, it is called the Recovery Disc Creator, for which a shortcut shold exist in the Start Menu and a folder in C:\Program Files. If neither is functional you will have to call 1-800-457-7777 and order a set for a nominal fee.
Hope this helps,
I bought the A215 laptop back in september of '07 and have had no problems... until I attempted to find a way to restore back to the factory image. I know that there's an extra partition and could probably find a program easilly through whatever website to access the partition. The question I have is "How do I get back to the factory image of the hard drive?" I've seen multiple websites quoting that one should:
1.) Press 0 [zero] and hold when you press the power button to boot and then the HDD Recovery Utility will appear.
2.) Use the HDD Recovery Utility on your desktop to back up the image from day 1 (which could've been an option, but I can't find said "utility" while in Windows Vista).
3.) Use the backup and recovery utility provided by Windows to go back to an earlier restore point (but the restore points don't go as far back as September of '07 so it's useless).
Anyone know if I'm hitting the wrong keys during startup or if I can access the hidden partition to boot from it using a partition manager and just boot from the hidden partition? I can see it in the disk manager from Administrator Tools in the Control Panel.
Any help is appreciated,
