ATI All-In-Wonder & Satellite TV Signals

Dec 30, 2004 1:39AM PST

I recently purchased an ATI All-In-Wonder card to use with a DVD burner. The card can input cable tv and tune through the channels. We have DIshNetwork satellite tv. I tried the signal in to the card, which I can get off the composite or S-Video outputs of the receiver, but this is already a fixed channel via the rcvr's tuner. Is there a way/device to provide a tuneable satellite signal to the card, where as the channels can be tuned at the card?
-thanks, Russ

No.

You have to add such a capability. From memory, snapstream.com has it.

Snapstream

Snapstream had like 4 software application, but nothing that looked like it would work with Satellite TV. I'll just have to keep digging I guess. I just thought someone might have worked with this before, as satellite is becoming more popular.

I remember it as ... IRBlasters.

It doesn't work as some want, but the PC sends commands via an IRBLASTER to the satellite receiver...

I just downloaded the snapstream BeyondTV ($69 retail) software and noticied that during the setup screen it asked if I used IRBlaster OR a serial connector. Of course, Snapstream links you directly to their sales site for you to conveniently purchase either.

SageTV ($79 retail) also supports satellite. But I'm not sure they support the ATI card. I will be downloading the trial version and testing it later.

ATI should really get their act together and build a satellite provider interface.
