ATF leakng

My 1998 grand cheroke laredo leaking gear oil (ATF) possibly at the gear converter but just at the container btween the gear oil container and the engine oil container. The mechanic says i need to buy a new gear converter. Guaging the ATF in the morning and drive for like 1 hrs empty the container.

Any suggestion pls.
