Another great example of AT&T's poor customer service.

That AT&T is actually processing the order directly? Could be actually processed through Apple instead. Unfortunately these type of errors occur during a mad rush for new products. Be patient and place the order later. You will eventually get your phone. I assure you that your life will go on even if you aren't the first person to get one.

I work at the AT&T chat

It has been insane the last couple of days. You are not the only one that got accidentally cancelled. Most of the chats are people complaining that their phones are back-ordered. The phone line that takes orders went down yesterday. I guess I just don't see all the panic. I don't know if it is just bragging rights or what. I got the iPhone the day it came out. The phones will go out. All the orders will be filled.

More info.

Yes, there were 200,000 iPhone 4S pre-orders placed in the first 12 hours (probably between the carriers and Apple directly) and that 1 million were placed within 24 hours. No wonder there were issues for some. I understand the OP's frustration, but it was not an issue of poor customer service, just poor planning by the corporate idiots. CS had to deal with the issues as best as they could and unfortunately it was CS who had to take the heat.
