Someday you'll have to move on, why not today?
This apparently started around August, but just started affecting me a couple weeks ago.
Many AT&T customers read their mail on-line and are very happy. Some of us, however, use an e-mail client like Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird and read their e-mail on their own computer.
Reading e-mail via a client requires a working server at AT&T's end and that's where the problem lies. In my case, as of two weeks ago, AT&T's mail server has been sporadic in its operation. Sometimes it's down, i.e. not accepting logins, for hours on end. It is seldom up for more than five or six hours at a time. I have tried different mail clients, different computers and different LAN's.
Calling tech support doesn't help. They don't admit there's a problem, even though their own forums contain the same complaints. One upper level AT&T support tech suggest I abandon my AT&T mail in favor of gmail.
At any rate, I cannot recommend AT&T Uverse to anyone thinking of changing services.
