AT&T Broadband Cap, URL, Some Notes, Not Happy :-(

Mar 23, 2011 8:46AM PDT

Dear Buzz Gang and Crew,
Yes, I am also an AT&T customer and as of May 2nd, 2011, I too will be under the broadband usage cap. I am not very happy about it but at the same time I am watching to see how AT&T handles their metering services.

Some Notes:
1. URL to check your usage:
https://uversecentral4.att.com/uvp/myhome/bbu
or
www.MyUsage.att.com

2. AT&T Broadband Usage FAQ:
http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB409045&cv=102#fbid=cuVIGhcCXk3

3. Metering appears to be calculated during your billing cycle. So in other words, it resets after each billing period.

4. Interesting note:
If you have multiple DSL or Broadband lines, each line is metered individually.

Case in point:
I use a Dual WAN Router for my DSL so I have two DSL lines. Each individual DSL line is metered at 150 Gigs. So my total is 300 Gigs per month for my account.

As more updates come, I will try to post. Links to more info below.

AT&T, Inaccurate Metering, Reports: Off As Much as 4700%
Mar 25, 2011 11:25PM PDT

Dear Buzz Gang and Crew,
It appears that AT&T has a great deal of work to do. Reports are coming in of inaccurate broadband and DSL metering as the May 2nd date approaches. In one case, an AT&T customer indicated that their bandwidth usage was off as much as 4700%!

If AT&T is going to move forward with this action, they really need to get their act together or just drop the idea all together.

iPhone & iPad Apps to Monitor Usage, App: myAT&T
Mar 27, 2011 9:23PM PDT

Dear Buzz Gang and Crew,
Apps from both AT&T and independent developers are coming out to help you monitor your bandwidth usage. The one from AT&T seems to be the most popular.

No word on Andriod Apps but I am sure that some are out there.

AT&T TOS: "You Better Be Good or We Will Cut You Off!"
Mar 30, 2011 11:23AM PDT

Dear Buzz Gang and Crew,
Well this just keeps getting better and better. AT&T is basically asking their customers to give up some legal rights by signing off on an TOS (Terms Of Service) agreement. If you choose to not accept their agreement, then you have to be nice to them or they will cut you off...literally.
