forgot where (I check too many education news sites for my own good). Seems that the teacher in questionw as an outspoken supporter on gay rights and had attended a workshop on how to expose others to homosexual ifestyles.

read and comprehend written material in an atmosphere that is polically and socially neutral. Once these skills have been obtained, students can select the material they are drawn to rather than have it shoved at them. Schools need to stick to fostering certain moral and ethical principles without trying to engender them. There is a difference between the two and the later is the responsibility of the student's parents. It would sound as if the social upbringing of children has been hijacked but, personally, I feel too many parents never claim ownership of this function in the first place.

single income families where everyone sits down to dinner together and our children receive home schooling. I know it wouldn't be easy but I think our society and families would be better off for it. And as for the economic implications, like everything else we'd learn to deal with it.
