Question

Asus X551C can't turn on

Mar 13, 2016 4:39PM PDT

Hello everybody! It probably was here before but it wasn't solved I think. I have Asus X551C and it can't be turned on. It happened before but after few attempts it finally worked but now it's been dead for two days. It happened after I replaced CMOS battery. So when I press power the green light lights up for a second and I can hear HDD sound, like it's trying to run but cannot. Power cable is also pluged in and green light is on. I did the battery reset 100 times now so You can spare that tip Happy I put HDD in another laptop and it couldn't boot Windows. So I run it on Ubuntu and it said that the HDD is in a hibernation mode. I don't really remember if I shut it down or just folded, anyway HDD worms in Ubuntu I can browse it but can't run Windows from it. Any ideas?

It's gonna be hard to check with either options, it's probably fried MB or something, but there wouldn't be any light on I think and it happened before but never for that long, is it worth repairing or should I just get another one? I was checking HDD on another Asus, not the same model though.

It used to be a broken LCD meant the end of a laptop.

Today I can get that part for a reasonable number but the motherboard is still too close to 50% of the cost so usually the end. As to booting, Windows is like that. Just doesn't work across a lot of machines. Good way to learn that first hand.
