Question

ASUS V230ic All-In One

Aug 11, 2018 11:53AM PDT

ASUS V230ic All-In-One won't boot. Power light on, fan runs, HD spins up for about 10 seconds. System stops/restarts automatically. Still no boot. Disconnected most everything. Swapped out RAM, but nothing more. No Beep.Just a power light, HD spinup and fan. 60PT01G1-MB5A01 motherboard. No visible signs on MB. System did experience a dead USB port prior to this.

12M on back. Computer more than 2 years old.

Wish that were the case but over 2 years old and tag on back says 12M.

These run about the same as laptops for repair.

But there are a few cheap and easy things to try.

1. Unplug all cables and power from the main unit. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds then release. Apply power and the least number of cables needed (don't hook up a printer, USB drive, etc.) and re-test.

2. If #1 fails, google how to replace this model's CMOS battery. These when they get low can cause same or similar issues. Figure 1 to 5 dollars for this. Try it again and then repeat step 1.

Since the LEDs did flash I don't suspect the power adapter unless you have a story about Thor's hammer. The other usual is to replace the mainboard. But how much is that?

Only thing plugged in is the SATA HD. Will check the CMOS bat., but doubt 2 year old bat. is flat.

I doubt it too.

But it's a cheap part that can be in play so you have to decide if it's worth the risk. Otherwise it's most likely to be the motherboard.

Sad to read the reset didn't help.

Motherboard! Nothing that $112.00 + shipping from IT Xchange couldn't fix. It's my sisters computer and she did mention, that one of the USB ports had stopped working a few days prior to total failure.

Thanks for the posts.

That should fix it.

And that's cheap for a working laptop.
