Question

Asus swift 3 (8th gen i5) vs Acer Aspire E 15 (7th gen i7)

Sep 16, 2017 9:33AM PDT

Hello, I need a mobile computer for things like robotics and computer science classes (High School). Im mainly going to be using it to code and retro/light gaming (KSP, emulators,Fallout NV,etc). Which would be better for me?

I see that the swift has:
-pros
Newer cpu with more cores,
better build quality,
lower weight,
nicer look,
thinner.
way better display (ips),
Fingerprint

-cons
lower clock speeds (@1.6 ghz) than e 15
no dedicated gpu (e 15 has 940mx)
lower battery life, 10 hours (12 on e15)
New, so no reviews, which means i don't know if there is some sort of fatal flaw

Which is better for my purposes? Do i need a dedicated gpu and higher clock speed? 700 dollars is my absolute budget so I can't get the other swift with a gpu. I plan on dual booting fedora and windows. I have a PC so i dont need any crazy specs or large amounts of storage. Thanks so much.

Even with the games I want to play?

I have a PC for real gaming, I'm pretty sure HD graphics can run games like sonic mania and KSP

I'm going with nope.

KSP I know and have seen folk gripe if there is no GPU. At all low settings it jumps about, not smooth and you know the rest.

Video play, web work and such are fine. If you want to run games short of card games, some MMOs (even then I find gamers yelp), you need a GPU.
