Asus P4T533-C Questions

by tnerbrellim / June 2, 2005 5:52 AM PDT

I have an old Asus P4T533-C motherboard that needs a new processor. The box
and website tech specs say that it supports a 3ghz cpu, 512k L2, 533mhz FSB,
and Hyperthreading. I have been unable to find a processor that fits all of
the above catagories.

Am I able to use a processor with a 1mb L2 cache on this board? If I use a p
rocessor with an 800mhz FSB, will it work but only at 533? My main concern i
s getting a processor with HT support. It's been a few years since I did my
research. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Pricewatch.com for those rare CPUs.

Next the processor with an 800mhz FSB, booted on such a board but ran about as fast as dirt. I'll write that it did not work.

Hope this helps.

Well here is the problem, in the Intel world the CPU chip and the mother board are made for each other. Thus the MB will only support the P4 family it was made for. So find out what the family is and then go look. John

It is actually a 3.06ghz processer that is supported. You must update your bios from the asus website for this processor to be supported. I got mine from zipzoomfly.com about 8 months ago and paid $200 for it. You can probably find it for cheaper now.
3.06ghz 533mhz FSB with HT.
