Change the video chip to the 630 but I can't do that for you as I didn't find the Asus model to figure out if it was a 630M or 635M
Hi, I'm looking to buy a new laptop (currently have an old dell that has pretty much died). I mainly use my laptop for Microsoft word, Internet and watching films/TV. I also sometimes play the sims 3 and civilisation V through steam.
I ideally want a laptop that is fast, reliable and has decent graphics to watch movies and play these games, so am looking for laptops with 8GB RAM, 750MB-1TB HDD, >2.1GHz processing speed and a dedicated graphics card, for around £500-600. I prefer all metal, as my current plastic laptop proved to be a bit flimsy and is currently held together by electrical tape!
My 2 top options at the moment are:
1) ASUS N56VJ (£630)
- 8GB RAM
- 740GB HDD
- intel i5 processor at 2.6 - 3.2GHz
- NVidia GeForce GT 630 2GB graphics card
- 1920 x 1080 display
2) DELL Inspiron 15R (£500)
- 8GB RAM
- 1TB HDD
- intel i5 processor at 1.6 - 2.6GHz
- AMD Radeon HD 8670M 2GB graphics card
- 1366 x 768 display
I prefer the style of the asus and both seem to have pros and cons in the little details like the keyboard etc. What I really want to know is does the better processor and display of the asus offset the better graphics card in the dell, would they both function well enough for all my tasks and which would be the best option for me?
