Since it fails to show the boot screen or BIOS the news is grim. Get repair estimates but at the age the repair price may be over 50% of a new gaming machine.
Hi Guys
I’ve got an Asus ROG model number G73J. Have it over 6-7 years now.
Few days ago the computer started to hang and kept going on startup repair mode and giving me options of safe mode and etc. it wouldn’t start normally and safe mode was hard to run.
Looked like some type of virus to me or malfunction of a hardware.
After trying to bypass the bootup for few times now the laptop would turn on but the screen won’t. The hard drive light won’t turn on and sometimes the fan works. The cdrom works as its noise shows.
I suspect it is related to my graphic card but I’m not sure.
I believe if it was related to hard drive or ran, it had to at least turn the display on, but unfortunately it won’t.
It has a windows 7 installed and there is no physical damage.
Before this start to happen the only thing I was doing was I had it connected to my tv. (If that might be the cause)
I have opened up the parts and there is no sign of any damage except the hard drive cable pins are damaged a little probably because of me inserting it badly last time I have installed it.
Solutions I have tried but not working are trying to reset using the button under the laptop, trying to push power button for 60 seconds, trying the F5 button, trying to connect it to tv again, checking all the cables (except the hard drive), exchanging rams which there are 3 two mgs.
Please let me know if you suspect anything else or how can I check the graphic card.
Thank you very much for taking time and helping me out here.
