Question

Asus K501UX does not boot

by sanchin_w / January 29, 2018 9:59 PM PST

After 2 years of moderate use, my Asus K501UX - Win 10 suddenly showed a blue screen, stating (my translation, the original was in Spanish, see image below):

"Recovery

The hardware or device needs repair

The header verification checksum of this file does not match the calculated checksum.

File: \windows\system32\winload.efi
Error code 0xc0000221

You should use recovery tools. If you do not have installation media (as a DVD or a USB device), contact the administrator or the manufacturer of the equipment or device.

Press Enter to try again
Press F1 to go to the recovery environment
Press F8 for the boot configuration
Press ESC for the UEFI firmware configuration"

After that, I turned it off (by pressing the power button for >10sec). Then when I turn it on, the green battery light keeps blinking, with a dark screen. Nothing else happens.

Any ideas?

ASUS G751J botebook won't load.
by ubaagain / February 4, 2018 12:13 PM PST

I have an ASUS G751J notebook, although I've never used it for gaming.
This morning I turned it on, the keyboard lit up but the screen remained black.
The laptop is in close proximity of the Xfinity Gateway.
After several attempts failed I game to this site and read all the suggestions to try to get it to work.
Of course my laptop has an internal battery and looking at the indicator light, it kept blinking off and on as if it tried to charge.
I unplugged the machine from the power strip and plugged it into a wall outlet. I pushed F8 as someone had suggested to no avail. I then turned the power key off and on a couple of times and voila the screen started to load and now everything is ok.
I hope that someone can have similar luck. Laugh
