Question

ASUS FX73VE-WH71

Aug 12, 2018 5:12PM PDT

Earlier this year I purchased an ASUS FX73VE-WH71 from Best Buy. It came with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. I have used the task manager and so far the NVIDIA has not been used. It's using the integrated Intel graphics instead. How can I turn off the integrated graphics so the laptop starts using the NVIDIA instead??

So far I have tried disabling the integrated graphics but the next time I boot up it's been reenabled.

What's the point of having a separate graphics card if it's not going to be used??

Answer
Have to write no.

The GPU will get used on demand UNLESS you did something like wipe the supplied OS install.

So for most desktop use the Intel is quite up to the task and it saves power and if on battery power, gives you a lot more hours.

DO NOT FIX THIS. When you run a game, then the GPU kicks in.

I have been playing some games on it and the NVIDIA is still not being used. My feeling is it's taking away from the main memory by not using the NVIDIA. And I pretty much use it on battery very little, about 90% of the time it's plugged in so battery life is not an issue for me. And I have not wiped the installed OS.

Then it's a warranty issue.

Out of the box these do engage the GPU. If not, there are a few games you have to select which GPU to use. If it fails to engage in an out of the box condition, you have a call to use the warranty.
