I have NVidia's drivers on this card.
I presume that since the card is an NVidia card and made by ASUS, I can still use NVidia's drivers, right?
Someone please help me out here.
After checking out the site for quite some time now, I've decided to post on these forums and seek a bit of help after failed attempts looking into ASUS' and NVidia's websites. They're rather useless when it comes to technical support...
Anyways, I just bought a EN7800GTX TOP by ASUS, and I'm having a couple serious issues with it.
1. Shader Model 3.0
Doesn't work at all. I don't know if HDR and SM3.0 are the same, but wherever I've checked off "SM3.0" my computer just crashes and reboots. I'm talking about Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and 3DMark06, in particular, where when SM3.0 is loading, the thing reboots. Anyone know why I'm having this particular problem with SM3.0? All of my latest display drivers are installed (DirectX, NVidia display, etc.), so the problem doesn't lie within there.
2. How damn slow it is
Even though Shader Model 3.0 doesn't work for me, I've run 3dMark06 on other tests. My SM2.0 score is 1940! 1940! What?!
Some things work better than others. For instance, on Counter-Strike Source I'm getting a solid 60 (maximum with VSync enabled), but in games such as Doom 3, FEAR, Rome: Total War, Call of Duty 2, Age of Empires 3, framerates can drop to 10. (Mind you, I put all of my games at 1600x1200 maxed out - and why not?)
Here are my specs:
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon64 4000+
ASUS EN7800GTX TOP
SONY CPD-E200/E200E Monitor
Windows XP SP2
