ASUS Eee 901

by fedcop4jc / June 16, 2008 2:24 PM PDT

I was just in Hong Kong checking out the new electronics and the buzz is everyone is waiting for the ASUS Eee 901 to come out there in 1 week. They were selling the 900 dirt cheap but I decided to wait until the 901 emerged because of the promise of a better processor and battery life. Question is, does anyone know when it will be available in the USA? Also, with all the concern about China implanting devices into computers to try to steal information; is that a concern for anyone purchasing a laptop from China specifically?
I do have some information that I use my cpu for and it is vital that it not be leaked out in any way.

Any advice, comments and information is GREATLY appreciated.

well, asus is a taiwanese fact it is taiwan who started the netbook trend. you can rest assure "made in taiwan" is definitely better than "made in china". but i doubt you can find anything thats truly made in taiwan nowadays because taiwanese companies are outsourcing to china all the time for the cheaper labor option.

laptops is Quanta computer. They make 1 out of every 3 laptops sold worldwide. All of the top 10 selling laptop companies have Quanta as a ODM partner. Their headquarters is in Taiwan and their manufacutering sites are in China. Asus is known as the number motherboard manufacturer and have been trying to become a bigger player in the laptop market in the USA. They've been in the netbook market since the beginning and have been in that marlet longer then HP and Dell.
