Question

Asus C101PA-DB02 10.1” Touch Chromebook Flip

Feb 27, 2018 2:15PM PST

I've been looking for a 10" android able laptop for traveling as I can't find a good keyboard for my 10" tablet. A very important app that I need is Fujifilm Camera Remote. Anyone know if it can be installed on this laptop as I know android apps are limited on chromebooks???

Answer
So far no luck here.

Not a single Chromebook I have will load Android apps. If you need an android laptop, maybe the Asus Transformer line?

???

From what the techs in the stores have told me, you just have to download an update and some apps are available.

Then get it there.

If it doesn't work out then you return it.

Could do that

I was hoping to find out about the apps before I purchased it, but thanks anyway.

The story here so far

Is 3 chromebooks and no sign of android apps. If you have a specific app in mind try the author. But since there is that Android Transformer (we have those at the office as well), why not the real deal?

Which Transformer

I see a few of them, one is Windows based and the android version isn't available anywhere around here.

I see many on Amazon.

So confusing

Had a look at the link and it says "Asus Chromebook Flip is made better by its compatibility with Android apps. That’s right, just like the Pixelbook, you can use the Asus Chromebook Flip for Google Play apps, albeit after installing an out-of-the-box update."

Sounds like it might work.

The thing is, our models are now 2 years old. So maybe something new going on with newer models.

The thing is, you must ask the author if they have tested this app on this new system.

At the office we write Android apps. We won't tell folk it runs on anything but what we tested. And so far, Chromebooks have been a miss for us on the Android front.

Ok

How does one find out the author of an app?

Don't take this wrong.

No worries

I've been using this app for years on my Acer tablet and it works great for me.

I would be guessing

How the camera connects with the tablet. Not all Chromebooks have Bluetooth but almost all Android phones and tablets do. If you find Bluetooth in the camera, then be sure the Chromebook has that.

Will do

Hi there, just wanted to let you know that all the apps I downloaded work just fine on this laptop, including the camera remote!
