Do not try this on Socket A machines. If you want to try again, disable the L1 and L2 CPU cache in the BIOS. Sorry, no offer to write why.
Bob
Has anyone been able to upgrade to Win 7 , on a computer running an Asus A7N8X MB , & XP 3200 processor ? I have tried everything I can think of , including a Clean install, and 7 crashes , constantly. I am running the latest Bios, in fact , I also tried a custom Bios . Neither worked for me.
The same thing happened , when I tried to upgrade to Vista. The Comp. works fine with Win XP. The MS Upgrade Advisor said I could upgrade , except for the 3Com Ethernet , built into the MB. I disabled it , in the Bios. I use the Nvidia Ethernet port , also built into the MB. I am running either 2 or 3 Gigs of RAM. tried it with 3 Gigs , then with 2.Neither works. I tested the RAM , it is fine. I have 3 of these boards , all running the same processor. Vista & 7 will not work on any of them.
Thanks
