This vulnerability is due to an unchecked buffer in the Microsoft ASN.1 library. It could cause a buffer to overflow and allow an attacker to execute code with system privileges on an affected system. An attacker may thus be able to view and modify data, create new accounts, etc.

It affects systems running on Windows NT, XP, 2000 and 2003.
