Asian Languages (IME) on WindowsXP (+SP1) with Ofice2003

Nov 17, 2004 6:18AM PST

I installed Windows XP (+SP1)+Office 2003 (with an installation CD that installs both softwares together, without a possibility of installing only the windows.)

I then clicked the checkbox for supporting Asian languages (in the ?Regional and Languages? on the Control Panel). This has worked just fine with the other WindowsXP installations I?ve done in the past.

But the time it just wouldn?t work. I keep getting messages about missing files on the Win CD, and no matter what I try it doesn?t help!

I searched the net for help , but couldn?t find anything about the combination of WinXP (which includes SP1) + Office 2003 ?.

Here, where I live with the full retail version of XP and Office, the support calls for install issues do not incur the fees.

Since you are getting messages about missing files, you should call this into Microsoft Support.

Rose,

Apparently, it's not the full XP that's on the CD. It might be a special Microsoft version (probably reduced price for a reduced offering) for a special user group (such as students in a non-Asian environment) or it might be a pirated copy.

If it's an official Microsoft product, contact Microsoft. If it's a copy made by someone else, contact that someone else. If everything is legal, and you need IME support, and that isn't included, you'll probably get your money back.

Hope this helps,

Kees
