ashweb.exe

I often get a message saying, "ashweb.exe has encountered a problem and needed to close." Since it's a free program, I doubted they had much in the way of customer service, so I've considered uninstalling and downloading a fresh copy of Avast. I thought I'd post a note here, before doing that in case it's an easy fix.

(NT) Yup, I'd do the uninstall, reinstall.

BTW, the new version has developed a couple of new wrinkles.

Same old tune.

Hope the new wrinkles are more pleasing.

and it is currently working on a VRDB (virus recovery database) generator. I didn't see either of those last time around.

Thanks, again

ashweb.exe error, again
Jun 14, 2007 8:49AM PDT

I've noticed an error at Windows login, that says:
The instruction @ "0x00012f0" referenced memory at "0x100012f0". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Click Cancel to debug the program.

I click "Cancel" to debug and Windows loads. I then see the other error message: ashWebSv.exe encountered a problem and needed to close.

I didn't connect the two errors previously, but I thought this time they might be related. The last time I got the ashweb.exe error, it was preceded by the memory reading error.

After I uninstalled Avast, and downloaded another Avast, there was no problem for awhile, but now I'm, beginning to see it, again.

I hope this isn't a memory problem.
