Resolved Question

As simple as changing the battery? Other factors?

Jun 11, 2018 10:05PM PDT

I got this old Elitebook 2570p from 2012. But the battery only lasts for 90 minutes.

In reviews from back then it was reported the 9-cell battery was lasting nearly 11 hours.

Is it so easy that I will get the same result today, or will my computer have aged in other ways that can affect the battery life?

My brother has an Elite somewhere in the office. While the 11 hours is probably with screen on low and no WiFi it may not be hard to get there especially if you pop in a SSD and a new battery.

Old batteries are double bad since they strain the charger and motherboard. If you want to save this machine, new battery is very important.

Totally agree about the SSD.

Getting a new battery 9 cell battery that lasts up to 11 hours or 11 months may be problematic in that the original battery was high end quality where many non oem batteries leave a lot to be desired.

Look for one that has warranty for 1 to 3 years so if it fails you can get a replacement.
