Argh! My computer keeps crashing!!!

Can anyone help? Everytime my computer is trying to run a few things at once, or if it's having to think really hard, it freezes up. This happens in games and even when I just have programs open. I set windows so it wouldn't restart every time there was an error, but now when it freezes up I can't move the mouse, nothing responds, and I have to restart. Does anyone know what might be doing this and how I can fix it?
