Vernal equinox : beginning of spring: the time when the Sun crosses the celestial equator and day and night are of equal length, marking the beginning of spring. In the northern hemisphere this is around March 21, in the southern hemisphere around September 23.

YES, and hopefully we'll have a true spring
by Roger NC / March 19, 2006 6:51 PM PST

this year.

Although this winter was actually fairly mild overall, for the last few years, spring and fall weather seems to be in short supply.

It has seemed for most of the past decade they're getting shorter. Less time of really pleasant weather rather than hot and muggy or cold and windy.

Of course, it could just be me aging and experiencing things differently.
