Excess vaccine in Little Rock

This is the first year I haven't had a flu shot in the past 30+ years. I'm a firm believer in them. The LR newspaper reported this morning that there is an excess of about 15,000 flu shots available in Little Rock due to the mild flu season. They are trying to figure out how to choose who to give them to. If they don't use them they'll have to throw them out as they won't keep until next flu season.

Poll says just 1 in 3 Canadians got flu shot

A poll by Decima Research suggests that despite an avalanche of government advertising and media coverage, the rush to vaccinate is less than overwhelming.

Some 34 per cent of respondents to the poll this month said they'd had a flu shot, and just another nine per cent plan to do so.

"A while ago everybody was talking about the flu shot as if there wasn't enough to go around, that would be a major problem," pollster Bruce Anderson said in an interview.

"But there is enough (vaccine) here and the majority aren't doing anything about it," he said. "Governments have been promoting this, in some cases it's free, the flu is a pretty common feature of the Canadian winter - and here we are heading into the season and still a majority haven't got it and aren't planning on it."

In fact, 28 per cent of those surveyed said they don't believe a flu shot is worthwhile. ...
