It's only a little complicated.

These are activated for the machine you copied them from. That is, if you put them on another machine it will see the change and need activation if not more.

This is why I don't rely on images too much but the files I can't lose. The OS and apps are easy to replace.

There are some limits to this but should be fine. That limit includes changing the motherboard which some folk call out as "it's the same computer" but it's not.
