Are these stores ok to buy a 360 Elite from???

Jul 5, 2007 6:01AM PDT

Well, in about a week I hope to finally pickup my Xbox 360 Elite, but the only places around here that have one in stock are Walmart and Target. Now, I don't now how good their service, replacement, etc is, as I've never bought any major elctornic from them, always at Best Buy, but not a single one of there stores has one in stock, even online. Any help would be greatly appericated, as I would like to get one by or before this time next week. Thanks

Probably

It couldn't hurt to ask to speak to a manager about return policies, but generally they're pretty willing to accommodate so long as you're not wanting money back in most cases.

Return Policies

The standard return policy at Wal Mart is you can return most items for any reason within 90 days if you have a receipt. There are some exceptions which shorten that time frame and I'm not sure if video game systems are one of those exceptions or not (ask the customer service desk before buying).

Target will issue a full refund for most items returned within 90 days in new condition, with the original receipt, packaging and accessories. (Again, ask their customer service department if a 360 falls under this return policy just to be safe.)

The good news if you opt to buy a 360 is that Micro$oft just extended the warranty on the 360 to 3 years in the case of people who get the red ring of death. It sucks having to send the system in for repairs, but it's better than being SOL if something goes wrong after your store return period expires.

Thanks fr othe info, I think I 'm going to get it tommorrow, and I will ask them about this. And as for that red ring of death, I was jjust at circuit city playing a Lost Planet demo while my Mom shopped else where, and it just went dead with the red ring appearing. Then a screen came up telling you to contact Microsoft.

And your still getting one?

Lets see here. Your playing one in the store and you get the red rings of death. Microsoft extends its warranty because it has an over 30% failure rate. Maybe you should look at the PS3 or Wii?

If you relly really want a 360, here's my advice: wait until this fall. They will be manufacturing the 360 with smaller chip sets and a different (i.e. quieter/faster) harddrive, which is suuuuuuure to dramatically reduce the failure rate. I'm a proud PS3 owner, but I desparately want a 360... just not enough to risk the red ring (or, in many cases, multiple red rings). I will wait, and you should, too.
